This week I enjoyed the wholemeal flat bread as a lovely Breakfast for Mothers Day - Toad in a Hole. An old favourite, the flat bread stepped this dish up to the next level and made it even easier to make. I also added some cooked onion to the sausage and oil. To the pudding mixture I added some garlic powder along with the salt/pepper.
Instructions to make Garlic Bread Toad in a Hole:
- Tear hole from center of bread. On med. Heat add butter to pan. Toast hollowed bread slices lightly on one side, flip. (I toast one side first, because the egg covers this side and the bread doesn't get toasted)
- Crack egg in center of bread. Yolk should match up with the hole. Top egg with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and parsley. Fry a few minutes, til bread is toasted well on other side. Flip.
- Cook egg on other side to desired doneness. (Tip: if you don't like runny yolks, break them before you season)
- Top with garlic powder and parmesan.
I also added some cooked onion to the sausage and oil. To the pudding mixture I added some garlic powder along with the salt/pepper. Season the cabbage with salt and pepper and keep warm. Reheat the onion gravy and serve the cooked toad in. Crack eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk.
